POLICE have released an efit of a suspect and are appealing to the public for information after receiving a report that a man selling a mattress assaulted a woman in Horsley near Stroud.

The incident happened at around midday on Friday, April 27.

A 23-year-old woman from Stroud had parked her car near Narrowcut Lane when she was approached by a man in a blue transit van who initially offered her a ‘Memoryfoam’ mattress for sale. The man then grabbed the woman by the lapels of her jacket. She was able to break free and get into her car to drive away.

The man was described as white, in his late 30s to early 40s, around 5ft 8” tall and of medium build. His hair was light ‘mousy brown’ around 2” long and he is thought to have eczema below his eyes which were described as ‘piercing blue’. He was wearing a black short sleeved t-shirt.

Officers investigating the incident are particularly eager to hear from anyone in the Stroud, Paganhill, Nailsworth and Horsley areas that have been offered a mattress for sale over the weekend.
