Revamped bank opens to the public

CRICKLADE is in the money following a major bank's investment in the town.

Lloyds TSB bank may be the last branch standing in Cricklade but the company has shown its commitment to local business by undergoing an extensive revamp.

Along with a complete redecoration to update the ageing interior, the branch has increased the number of cashiers from two to three.

Senior area bank manager Jon Shatford said: "It’s a huge investment. It demonstrates that we’re committed to smaller towns like Cricklade.

"It’s undergone a complete refurbishment. Customers that come in now will barely recognise the new branch."

To celebrate the launch, Cricklade Town Council chairman Cllr David Tetlow re-opened the branch to the public in a special event last week.

It is hoped the revamp will encourage more customers to use the facility, so that the bank can extend its opening hours in future.

Cricklade business association chairman Bob Jones said: "The bank is an essential part of the community hub along with our post office and small shops. They bring people in to Cricklade who might otherwise go elsewhere."
