CHARLOTTE ELLIS, of Minchinhampton Golf Club, agonisingly missed the halfway cut by one shot in her first tournament as a professional.

Rounds of 74 and 73 meant Charlotte sat out the closing stages of the weather-effected Lalla Meryem Cup at Agadir in Morocco, which was eventually won by 46-year-old Tour veteran Karen Lunn from Australia, who had triumphed in the Women’s British Open back in 1993.

The second round was curtailed by high winds and Ellis had to return on the third morning, having played just five holes of her second round.

Playing improved golf, she seemed set fair for qualification until three bogeys on her back nine left her one over the necessary four-over par threshold.
