A FORMER student of the Royal Agricultural College (RAC) is returning to Cirencester after more than 40 years, bringing his high-end furniture business with him.

John Lewis founded John Lewis of Hungerford in 1972 after studying agriculture at RAC and opened a new showroom in Black Jack Street, Cirencester, on Saturday.

This is the first showroom for the Berkshire business, which offers kitchens and furniture in both traditional and modern designs, to open in the Cotswolds Mr Lewis, who has also worked as an advisor for the Ministry of Agriculture, said he was delighted to be able to bring his business to the Cotswolds.

“Since my days at the RAC in Cirencester I have always loved the town and as a company we wanted to have a presence in the Cotswolds,” he said.

“When I saw the building in Black Jack Street I thought it was perfect for us.

“We look forward to offering our trademark British painted kitchens & furniture to Cotswold residents.”
