A CHARITY chief who plundered its funds is set to lose almost £600,000 worth of his ill gotten gains, including a holiday property in Northern Cyprus, a court was told this week.
Dennis Grant's realisable assets include two houses in the UK, two cars and a villa and three plots of land in Turkish-controlled Cyprus.
Grant, 63, of Upper Tadmarton near Banbury, who was chief executive of the Cotswold Water Park Society when he stole £660,000 of its funds, was jailed for four years and four months in July.
He had admitted six offences of fraud and deception On Tuesday he made a brief appearance back in the dock at Gloucester Crown Court for a progress hearing in follow-up proceedings under the Proceeds of Crime Act.
Mary Harley, prosecuting, said the Crown Prosecution Service would seek to confiscate £592,000 of realisable assets under the act.
Grant, wearing grey track suit trousers and a maroon sweatshirt, is understood to have been moved from a secure prison to the Leyhill Open Prison near Wotton under Edge.
At Grant's sentencing in July the court heard he spent the society's money on the Cyprus holiday property and luxury cars including £62,000 Aston Martin Vantage and a Jeep 4X4.
His frauds went on undetected for more than two years until finance worker Tasha Flaherty confronted him about missing money.
She could not find where a £100,000 payment had gone and tackled Grant face to face about it.
Police were called and Grant admitted he had taken the money through greed.
The full confiscation hearing will take place next month.
