MALMESBURY Carnival approaches its spectacular finale this weekend with the traditional procession through the town.

The town’s bellydancing group provide a taste of “Dark Carnival” in St Mary’s Hall tonight, with a show that features murderous burlesque and bellydancing skeletons.

Danter’s fun fair is also due to open tonight in the Station Yard from 6pm.

And Friday sees the carnival quiz at the town hall, which is so popular it usually sells out.

However Saturday is the big day, with the 10K run organised by James Higgs from the Activity Zone, the children’s carnival mile and the procession itself, followed by a dance at St Mary’s Hall.

Entries for the procession need to be submitted to the Standard office in the high street no later than 3pm tomorrow.

Floats and walkers have to be in Park Road for judging at 4.30pm and the parade sets off at 6pm, heading up Gloucester Road, along Abbey Row, into Oxford Street, round the Cross Hayes and up the high street before heading back to Park Road.
