A NEW portrait of Cotswolds composer, conductor and musician Ralph Vaughan Williams is to be unveiled at a special anniversary concert featuring one of his most famous works.
Five Mystical Songs, composed by Vaughan Williams, is being performed by the Worcester cathedral Chamber Choir during Three Choirs Festival week at Worcester Cathedral, almost 100 years to the exact date it premiered.
The concert will be recorded and the CD booklet features the new portrait of the Down-Ampney born composer by artist Craig Letourneau.
The painting was commissioned by the choir’s musical director Stephen Shellard. He said Craig had captured the "very essence" of Vaughan Williams.
The concert week will start on August 6. For more and to buy tickets go to worcestercathedralchamberchoir.co.uk
