FOUR young gifted scientists from Cirencester Kingshill School turned forensic crime solvers for a day at the University of Bath chemistry festival.
The pupils joined students from 16 other schools at the Salters' Festival of Chemistry and donned white coats to take part in a host of practical activities.
They were set the task using chemical techniques to solve a crime, analysing samples to help match the correct suspect to the crime scene.
The day ended with a spectacular demonstration of colourful and noisy chemistry given by lecturers from the university.
Year 7 student James Juniper, 12, said: "It was a really great day and we were able to do lots of real chemistry in a university laboratory. The final activity was a fun demonstration that included electrocuting a guerkin to make it glow."
