Cirencester College award winners
EXCELLENCE in a whole raft of areas was celebrated at the Cirencester College annual awards ceremony.
Pupils, parents and staff came together at the ceremony to praise individual achievements in areas as diverse as arts, science, IT and sport.
Top academic achievers Joe Simpson (43 international baccalaureate points, Katy Stewart (A*, A*, A*, A,A) and Dalraj Bahia (A*,A,A,A,A) took the Cirencester Grammar School Memorial Prizes for Academic Excellence.
Achievement in the arts was applauded with Zoe Grimes, Carla Yorukoglu and Graham Morriss receiving the Arts Faculty Prize.
And this paper’s own commendation, the Wilts and Glos Standard Prize for Successful Application of Communication Skills, was awarded to George Telling.
Adult learners were in the spotlight with Barbara Pritchett and Yang Chen receiving the Adult Learning Awards.
While the MENCAP Award for Achievement went to Simon West and Mirelle Cross-Jones.
And sporting prowess was celebrated with Sam Halliday scooping the John Cook Memorial Cup for Sporting Achievement.
Guest of honour Professor Chris Gaskell, principal of the Royal Agricultural College, spoke of his vision of Cirencester being widely known as the place to go for an excellent education.
