Forest Green Rovers U15s 4, Gotherington U15s 1.

FOREST GREEN U15s reached the League Cup Final with a deserved victory over Gotherington.

The game couldn't have got off to a worst start for the home side when they failed to deal with a long ball and the visitors finished well to take the lead inside the first five minutes.

This acted as a wake-up call for FGR who started to show their quality with a footballing masterclass.

A thumping header by the impressive Max Mudway from Jonny Brodie’s corner made it 1-1.

Rovers continued to batter Gotherington but the scores remained level at the break.

The introduction of Callum Richings for FGR in the second half proved key.

Jamie Walker did well down the right before pulling the ball back for Richings to audaciously turn the ball home.

Keeper Rob Sims then did well to turn a rare Gotherington effort away for a corner to preserve Rovers’ lead before Richings found Josh Patel, who smashed the ball across goal into the far corner.

The home side completed the scoring when Richings cut inside from the left and lashed the ball past the helpless visiting keeper.

A superb performance to send Rovers into the League Cup Final at Cheltenham Town FC on May 1.

MoM: Callum Richings.

Forest Green Rovers U12s 2, Evesham Utd U12s 1.

AFTER last week’s disappointing Cup exit Forest Green Rovers got the win which kept their title hopes alive.

Luke Freeman put them 1-0 up within two minutes.

The pressure mounted and Luke Messier and Hamish Brady both came close to extending their lead. However, against the run of play, Evesham broke free and equalised.

The second half was a different story and it was Evesham who were on top.

With five minutes left, FGR were awarded a penalty and Jack Freeman coolly slotted it home to maintain the pressure on the league leaders.

MoM: Kieren Smart.

Wickwar Wanderers U11s 0, Forest Green Rovers U11s 0.

AFTER coming from behind to beat Wickwar last week, Forest Green Rovers didn't reach quite the same heights in the return fixture but still earned a creditable draw.

In an even first half, FGR were limited to few chances. Wickwar had several corners but the FGR defence looked solid.

Wickwar had the better of the second half but both teams cancelled each other out. Jack Gardner's good work created a half-chance but it was Wickwar who nearly found a late winner, yet when presented with two late chances they found FGR keeper Ralph Smee in his usual excellent form.

Forest Green Rovers U7s v Hardwick U7s.

FGR U7s had their first game of the season against Hardwick.

The boys made a nervous start but settled down to play some good football.

There were some fine saves from Edward Linton and some good defending from Adam King and Lucian Albury which kept Hardwick at bay.

Solid midfield play from Taylor Bayliss and Archie Sollars and tough tackles and great runs from Callum Freeman helped contribute to goals from Adam King, Harry Peglar and Jamie Miles.
