Forest Green Rovers U12s 4, Wotton Rovers U12s 1.

FOREST GREEN ROVERS reached the quarter finals of the County Cup with an impressive display of passing football against a strong Wotton side.

The home side dominated the opening period and deserved to take the lead after Luke Freeman split the defence with a pass to put Oliver Hoad free on goal. Despite the greater possession, FGR were caught on the break and Wotton equalised with a well-taken goal.

Ten minutes into the second half the game was over after Luke Messer came off the bench to slot home with his first touch, shortly followed by Freeman scoring on the turn and Hoad netting his second.

Special praise must go to goalkeeper Craig Cambridge who made two outstanding saves, the first was from point blank range and the second from the penalty spot. MoM: Harry Clapton.

FOREST GREEN ROVERS weren't at their best but still managed to come away with a victory.

The opening was all about the home side and after several chances went begging it took a calm Liam Courtney, who chipped the defence, to then place the ball into an empty net.

FGR just couldn’t find their rhythm but they were still creating chances and it wasn’t long before Luke Freeman doubled their lead. Luke Messer tapped in number three after a scramble and the impressive Jack Freeman made it four with minutes remaining.

Charley Hobbs, Harry Clapton, and Seb Porter were solid at the back and Kieren Smart worked hard.

MoM: Charley Hobbs and Jack Freeman.

Bourton Rovers U15s 1, Forest Green Rovers U15s 13.

BOURTON struggled to cope with the pace of Callum Richings, Pat Freeman and Jamie Walker and FGR ran out comfortable winners.

Forest Green were 1-5 up at the break with goals from Walker (3), Jonny Brodie and Richings, with the home side managing a consolation goal following a rare goalmouth scramble.

The second half was more of the same with FGR dominating the attacking play and goalkeeper Rob Sims a virtual spectator.

Sim was even able to enjoy a rare outing in midfield for the last ten minutes.

The visitors pushed on in the second half, notching a further eight goals with strikes from Freeman (2), Sam Wright, Rory Yates (3), Jack Richards and Jordan Fletcher.

A superb team performance on a very difficult pitch.

MoM: Pat Freeman.

Southside Athletic U13s 0, Forest Green Rovers U13s 6.

FOREST GREEN eventually managed to break down a hard-working and committed Southside team on a compact and sticky pitch.

Rovers repelled several Southside attacks before Billy Gibbs was put clear on the counter to score the only goal of the first half.

After the break, Forest Green began to adapt to the conditions and soon extended their lead when Ben Avis cut back for Gibbs to get his second in emphatic fashion.

Noah Hinder then finished from close range before Avis finally got a goal after several attempts.

A shuffle in formation allowed Callum Reid-Hutchings to score the team’s fifth while Charlie Farrington rounded the day off with a cool finish across the keeper. Good outings all round but Joe Mansell and Eddie Drake should be credited for much improved performances
