Western Counties North.
Cirencester 20, St Mary’s Old Boys 14.
Following their points deduction in the league, Town now have a relegation battle on their hands and they gained a crucial win against fellow strugglers St Mary’s on Saturday.
Both sides struggled to find any continuity in the first half.
A long stoppage due to an ankle injury for a St Mary’s player resulted in the teams having to move to another pitch and most of the first half belonged to the visitors. Crucially, they only scored one try.
Town replied with a try of their own via in-form second row Scrivens and a penalty from Fisher. However, St Mary’s rallied to score another try just before the break.
In the second half, Town secured better line-out ball and, playing down the slope, they started to put pressure on St Mary’s The backline finally delivered with a try from centre Josh Brierley and then late on a winning try from full back Tosh Titoko to spare the home side any blushes. Fisher added a conversion to see the home side win 20-14.
