SHOPPERS are being treated to a free cup of coffee at a café in Cirencester if they find one of the mugs that have been planted around the town.

Blades Bistro, Bar & Café, in The Stableyard in Black Jack Street, planted the mugs with a tag on them, which says whoever finds the mug can go to the café for a free coffee.

Owners Felicity and Nick Blades toured the charity shops in Cirencester buying and planting some 40 mugs in total. They hope the initiative will boost trade.

Felicity said: "We had lots of people return the mugs saying they were delighted to have discovered us. They said they loved the idea of the mugs so we are thrilled with our first attempt.

"We wanted to do something that was quirky to get people's attention but also make them smile and give them a little boost to their day.

"

So far more than 40 per cent of mugs have been returned. The rest are still out there waiting to be found.
