AN ARTIST is helping an aviation charity fly high by raffling off pictures of famous Battle of Britain Memorial Flight aircraft.
Jonathan Margetts, who volunteers with Kemble-based fly2help, has been painting pictures of aeroplanes for the past 20 years and decided to use his special skill as a way of raising money.
Now two of his paintings of the Lancaster bomber and the Dakota transport are to be flown on the aircraft and signed by the crew before the draw.
Mandy Pantall, fundraising director for the charity said: “We are very grateful to Jonathan for suggesting this idea and producing these two wonderful paintings. For the RAF and the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight to support the idea is the icing on the cake.”
Jonathan added: “fly2help do wonderful work helping children and adults who face illnesses and challenges in life and I am proud to be able to support them through my own work.”
The pictures will be on display at the Cotswold Air Show in June and one of the winners will have a trial lesson in the charity’s Chipmunk.
