THE producers of Corinium Radio say that their broadcast over the advent festival weekend was their most successful so far.

The group behind Cirencester’s community radio on 87.7FM anticipate the figures will show they had over 3,500 listeners, which is around 10 percent of their broadcast audience, the same as BBC Radio Gloucestershire.

This was the eighth time Corinium Radio had taken to the airwaves since their launch in 2007 and committee member Geoff Carr believes it was the best and most popular yet.

"The quality of the programmes was much better, partly because our team is much more experienced and partly because of the huge response from the listeners through emails and texts."

The coverage over the weekend also featured a live feed from the Market Place for the switching on of the Cirencester Christmas Lights.

Geoff added: "There’s no question that this was the most popular part of the broadcast – the emails and texts shot up when it was on."

Corinium Radio is holding a meeting at the Bingham Library on Thursday, December 10 at 7pm for anyone who wishes to give feedback or is keen to become involved in future broadcasts.
