Tributes paid to car crash victim Damien Parker-Lovejoy

FRIENDS of a popular Cirencester barber who died following a car crash have paid tribute to her ‘boundless energy and enthusiasm’.

Damien Parker-Lovejoy, who ran Hobbs Barbers in Cirencester, was taken to Frenchay Hospital in Bristol after the crash on the A433 Bath Road at 7.40am on Wednesday, November 11.

The 41-year-old died of her injuries in the early hours of Thursday morning. She leaves a 10-year-old daughter India.

Damien was a keen car enthusiast and mountain climber who had conquered most mountains in the UK.

In the past she had moved around a lot living and working in London, Bristol and opening her first barbers in Weston-super-Mare.

She first moved to Cirencester a few years ago when she opened a barber shop in Stratton for two years.

When she came back to the town in 2008 she worked in the town centre briefly before opening her own shop at the end of Dyer Street.

Her partner Barry Taylor said she had recently told him she was happier and more settled than at any other time in her life in Cirencester.

He said he had drawn strength from the poem; ‘Do not stand at my grave and weep, I am not there I do not sleep, I am a thousand winds that blow, I am the diamond glints in snow’.

The couple were due to go to Egypt for a holiday on Tuesday.

Barry released a tribute to Damien saying: "You are one in a million, they broke the mould when they made you. Your boundless energy, your enthusiasm, your love of life, your infectious laughter that brightened so many lives.

"I feel so deeply honoured to have had a part in your life. You told me life is short, well you were right as usual."

A close friend of Damien’s, who did not wish to be named, wrote: "You have touched many people’s lives, most certainly mine.

"Very much a woman but inside beat the heart of a girl, excited by many things, Christmas, climbing mountains, come to think of it, everything."

Barry added that any flowers or tributes left on the doorstep of the barber shop would be placed in the window.
