AN ELVIS guitar and a 1920s tea set are some of the gems that went under the hammer in Cirencester on Friday when David Dickinson’s Real Deal came to town.

The team of antique experts took a look at some Wiltshire resident’s prized possessions two weeks ago and they were on sale a Moore Allen & Innocent in Cirencester.

Dealers from the show offered the owner’s money for their items or they were given the option to take them to auction where they might sell for more – or less.

Among the best of the lot was a three-foot-tall enamel forecourt 1930s advertising sign for Duckham’s Adcoids, thought to be worth up to £400.

Also highly collectable was an Elvis guitar.

Produced in 1956, the plastic toy has a picture of The King himself embossed onto the fret board.

Finally, a 1920 children’s tea set from Grimwades, featuring scenes from The Tale of Peter Rabbit by Beatrix Potter is expected to make between £200 and £300.

On hand to offer expert advice was Moore Allen’s auctioneer, Philip Allwood.
