PRUDENT finance bosses at all six district councils in Gloucestershire have joined forces to investigate where “back office efficiencies” can be made.

The scheme, named G0-7, will also include West Oxfordshire District Council and its aim is to implement a shared computer system to make huge savings.

The cost to taxpayers of implementing the system will be £250,000 with a predicted annual saving from 2012/13 of £89,000.

Jenny Poole, CDC’s acting chief financial officer, said the attempt to get all seven councils to commit to the scheme was a challenge.

She said CDC currently has no procurement system and all order notes are handwritten.

It would also allow CDC to analyse its procurement to see where further savings can be made.

CDC’s cabinet gave its approval to the scheme at a meeting last week.
