ECO-WARRIOR Adam Druett will be taking on his toughest challenge ever next month when he cycles the entire length of the country to help save the planet.

The Lechlade resident is taking on the gruelling John O’Groats to Lands End challenge on behalf of a little-known charity called Trees for Life.

The Scottish-based charity has planted 750,000 native trees in an area of 600 square miles, in the Scottish Highlands over the last 20 years.

They also aim to create a habitat to introduce new species including the European Beaver, Eurasian Lynx, Wild Boar, Wolf and Brown Bear.

Adam, 22, is hoping to raise over £1,000 and will split the money between Trees for Life and cycle network group Sustrans to help support sustainable transport.

He said: "Ever since I bought my first bike when I was 16-years-old the John O’Groats to Lands End cycle has been a bit of an ambition for me.

"The charities I chose are based on my environmental position and to help the countryside as I feel it is an increasingly urgent cause."

Adam sets off on August 17 and is hoping to complete the 1,030 mile journey in just ten days, supported by his father Tony who will be following him in a car.
