AMERICAN Soul legend Solomon Burke is in the line up for this year’s WOMAD festival at Charlton Park.

The Grammy winner and his band will be joined by top Ethiopian group the Ethiopiques and performers from across the globe for the event near Malmesbury running from July 24 and 26.

Festival director Chris Smith said: " WOMAD 2009 has some of the very best and most exciting music from around the world. This is going to be one great festival."

Some of the artists will be showing off their cooking skills in a A Taste the World session, while yoga, salsa dancing and a spa are also on the programme.

A series of workshops and entertainments for children is planned, along with a parade.

India, Australia, Nigeria, Mongolia, Northern Ireland and China are among the regions represented in the extravaganza, which is one of five WOMAD festivals taking place around the world this year.
