ROCK star Bryan Ferry's son Otis will have his 'witness nobbling' charges against him dropped.

The 26-year-old huntsman was also told he can now re-enter his home county of Shropshire for the first time since he was freed from Gloucester prison on bail in January.

The prosecution said at Gloucester Crown Court this week it plans to discontinue its allegations Mr Ferry perverted the course of justice by trying to stop a witness giving evidence against him in a robbery and assault trial last year.

The judge described the situation as 'nonsensical' and 'farcical' adding he was concerned and 'taken aback' to hear the prosecution's position as they had persuaded him at earlier hearings to remand Mr Ferry in custody for more than four months on the perverting the course of justice allegation.

Judge Picton called for the lawyer in charge of the case, Kerry Barker, who was not in court today, to appear before him at a future hearing to give a full explanation of what has been going on.

Typical now that the Hunting Season has finished. The whole thing seems a fix on behalf of the anti hunting lobby.
Rapists and child abusers have been treated better, and in a lot of cases not kept in custody until their trial was heard. Just makes you think.

The wretched boy was let off of a drunk driving charge not that long ago and now he's getting away with this. Surely it cannot be because he is the son of a long past it pop star.

It appears to me that when you have a rich and famous father you can get away with anything...If this guy had been an unknown citizen I wonder if he would be allowed to walk away free without any charges or a conviction?

Lil, would you really want to see anybody convicted if they hadn't committed an offence? Just because the police/CPS charge people does not make them guilty. It is not a matter of money or fame.Bearing in mind that witnesses have obviously been discredited(as the review shows)can they be believed on their original allegations?

Otis still spent months in prison for an offence he did not commit.
Most of us would lose our houses and girlfiends and or wives if we were put away for this length of time. Someone should pay, either the CPS or someone else but at the end of the Day the police must stop banging people up while they fit them up.
There is no reason why trials should not be concluded within days of an offence being committed,
It is not Illegal to be a member of a hunt, but only because Gordon Brown has not got around to it yet.
