Animal rights group gather in Cirencester to protest at treatment of pigs

MEMBERS of Cirencester Animal Rights gathered this week to get people clued up on the treatment of British pigs by the pig farming industry.

It was organised in response to a recent programme involving TV chef Jamie Oliver where claims were made that farmed pigs in the UK had welfare standards.

Group members handed out leaflets in the Brewery Car Park on Saturday (Feb 21) disputing these claims.

Member Helen Nicholas said it was important to highlight what really goes on.

"Pigs are often kept in awful conditions," she said. "It's important to bring to attention what people don't see."

This is more propaganda from the animal rights groups. Pigs have to be kept in clean housing because the risk of infection is to high. What the people dont see is the animal rights people lying.
