THE M5 motorway has been closed after five people were involved in an accident that left a caravan overturned.

At 11.43am Great Western Ambulance Service (GWAS) received multiple 999 calls to an incident on the M5 between junctions 15 and 14 on the northbound carriageway.

GWAS dispatched an ambulance officer, a double manned ambulance and the Filton based air ambulance.

On arrival all those involved were checked by the paramedics and found not to have suffered any injuries although the motorway is now closed.

Ambulance officer, Craig Lloyd said "There are lots of cars towing caravans travelling on the motorway today and this is already the second accident attended by GWAS today which involved one.

"We would urge anyone towing a caravan to take extra car and pay close attention to the driving conditions."

No one has been seriously injured in either of the accidents.
