VULNERABLE adults will be offered more protection in the county as Gloucestershire County Council pledges to work with its partners.
This Thursday representatives from the county council, Gloucestershire Primary Care Trust and the police will share feedback from the results of the government's ‘No Secrets’ consultation at Churchdown Community Centre (2pm to 4.30pm).
‘No Secrets’ is Government guidance on key agencies coming together to draw up and put into practice policies and procedures that will make vulnerable adults safer.
It emphasises the need for a co-ordinated response across all agencies where formal complaints are made or concerns raised, and for a robust preventative strategy.
The ‘No Secrets’ consultation has finished in Gloucestershire and the county council is now ready to present the feedback.
Service users, carers groups and staff from all the partners involved have been asked for their views.
Chris Russell, Gloucestershire County Council’s adult protection unit manager, said: "People have become increasingly aware that abuse is perpetrated against adults who are often least able to protect themselves.
"The Government is asking whether even stronger measures are needed to address this. We have received an extremely positive response from across Gloucestershire to the request to join their consultation. We will be able to pass these comments directly to the Department of Health."
