FAILING schools will now have the support of Farmor’s headteacher Anne Stokes (pictured) who has been appointed the National Leader of Education (NLE).
The National College for School Leadership (NCSL) appointed the Fairford school headteacher along with 40 other headteachers nationwide.
This is part of the Government’s commitment to raise education standards in all schools. Jim Knight, Minister of State for Schools and Learners, said: "I want our best school leaders to help support others in raising standards."
Farmor’s School has also been designated a National Support School.
To mark the occasion, Anne was invited to an induction event at the NCSL Learning & Conference Centre in Nottingham, to discuss the role she will play in raising standards.
Toby Salt, deputy chief executive of NCSL, said: "I am so proud that these outstanding school leaders like Anne Stokes are being honoured in this way.
"NLEs, supported by their schools, have a more important role to play than ever in ensuring that excellent school leadership and the best possible opportunities are available to as many children as possible."
