CIRENCESTER'S town centre will be transformed into a winter wonderland bustling with live music, light projections and fake snow this weekend.

Shoppers will be able to browse through more than 200 stalls at Cirencester's highly anticipated Advent Market which will take place across Castle Street, the Market Place and Cricklade Street between 10am-6pm on Saturday, November 25 and 10am-4pm Sunday, November 26.

Visitors can watch town mayor Sabrina Dixon and a representative from headline sponsor Sewell Mullings Logie Solicitors switch on the lights at approximately 4pm on Saturday, which will also be projected onto big screens in the Market Place.

This will be followed by a short silent fireworks display, courtesy of Cotswold Fireworks.

In addition, former BBC presenter and self-proclaimed Mr Christmas Vernon Harwood will also be in attendance, spreading holiday spirit across the two days.

Local dance and theatre groups, choirs and musicians will also be performing inside St John's Parish Church on Saturday.

Several road closures will be in place in the town centre from midnight on Friday, November 24 until midnight on Sunday, November 26 to cater to the event.

Roads affected include Dollar Street, Gosditch Street from Loveday Mews, Cricklade Street from Castle Street junction, Castle Street from Silver Street junction, Dyer Street from North Way junction and Black Jack Street from Park Street junction.

Access will be maintained for affected residents but deliveries and contractors must be arranged outside the closure times.
