One for the birds.
As a Nation we love our pets, especially cats and dogs. But it wasn't that long ago that many people also kept caged birds.
I remember most homes on the estate that I grew up on in the 1960s, kept a "joey" or a Canary in a wire cage in the sitting room.
These pictures are from the 1950s and the 1970s.
