SIX primary schools in our area have entered into an exciting partnership which aims enhance pupils' learning in four particular subjects.

Headteachers at Fairford, Southrop, Bibury, North Cerney, Down Ampney and Ann Edwards primary schools recently found out that they were successful with their application for an Enthuse Partnership.

Over the next two years, the schools will work collaboratively to inspire their pupils to engage with STEM subjects - which stands for science, technology, engineering and mathematics - and STEM-related careers.

The schools will receive funding support and access to continued professional development, leading educational resources and STEM ambassadors.

These ambassadors are volunteers from STEM industries who will share their background and knowledge to inspire young people.

Benefits this partnership can have on young people include an increased attainment in STEM subjects, narrowing the gap for disadvantaged students, and an increased understanding of STEM careers so more students are aware of the qualifications and routes to progress into these industries.

Julia McLellan, co-head teacher of Southrop Primary School, said: "We are excited to participate in this partnership and are looking forward to working with the Enthuse Partnership team, STEM learning, and colleagues from local primary schools to bring high-quality teaching and learning and STEM related opportunities to our pupils."
