A SERVICE set up to help vulnerable people and their carers celebrates its second birthday this week.

The social care helpdesk run by Wiltshire County Council deals with 4,000 calls a month.

Cllr John Thomson, adult social care cabinet member said: "We get calls from family members who want advice about residential care for a loved one or just people asking about facilities in their communities.

"Not only can callers access a whole range of information with one call - but we guarantee they will be answered by a friendly voice - a real person not a machine."

The helpdesk is on 01225 713001.It can also be contacted on email at socialcarehelpdesk@wiltshire.gov.uk and operates between 8.30am to 5.20pm, Monday to Thursday and 8.30am to 4.20pm on Friday.
