ORGANISERS of the Royal International Air Tattoo are keeping their fingers' crossed that the legendary Vulcan bomber will make a flying visit to the airshow next month.
It is currently touch and go whether Vulcan XH558 will receive the necessary clearances in time to appear at the airshow at RAF Fairford on July 12-13.
But organisers hope the aircraft, which was brought back to airworthiness following a massive £6.5 million public campaign, will make an appearance.
Air Tattoo Director Tim Prince said: "Like Concorde and the Spitfire, the Avro Vulcan is one of the few iconic aircraft with the ability to have a profound impact on those who see it fly. Its sleek lines belie its thunderous power and it is simply breathtaking to watch.
"Everyone involved in the Air Tattoo is praying that the Vulcan will make it to Fairford. We've supported the Vulcan to the Sky campaign for a number of years and it would be great to see this incredible aircraft take part in an airshow once again."
