A LINGERIE company is being launched by a former town planner from the Cotswolds who sold her house to pursue her dream.
Emma Amies, 38, also gave up her full-time job three years ago with aspirations of becoming a fashion designer after securing a place on a fashion degree at De Montfort University, Leicester.
Ms Amies, formerly from Shipton Moyne, near Tetbury, had worked as a planning officer for South Gloucestershire Council and North Wiltshire District Council.
In 2005, she left her job with as a senior planner with for windfarm company Ecotricity, working in Thornbury and Stroud, after deciding ten years in planning was too long.
Recently her first catwalk show for her collection cherry pie' won professional acclaim from the fashion industry.
"I couldn't sew when I started the course, I could just about make curtains and cushions," she told the Standard. "It's been a steep learning curve, to get on the catwalk has just been an honour."
Her collection features cherry prints and gingham fabrics and she is hoping to launch her own label, Cupcake Lingerie, after she graduates in November.
