SCHOOL pupils across Gloucestershire have once again gained excellent results in national tests for 11 year olds.
The results, published this week, show the county's overall results to be above the national average.
Over 84 percent of Gloucestershire pupils reached at least the expected level (Level 4) in English, with 80 percent in maths and 91 percent in science.
Pupils in the county also shone in their achievements at Level 5, which is above the level expected for 11 year olds, performing above the national averages in English, maths and science at this level.
Councillor Jackie Hall, lead cabinet member for Children's Services with Gloucestershire County Council, said: "This is excellent news and well justifies the investment that the county council has made in the county's children and young people.
"I would like to pass on my warm congratulations to Gloucestershire's pupils, schools and teachers. Yet again, they are setting a standard that will be envied in other parts of the country."
