BUSINESSES in Gloucestershire have reported being on the receiving end of a new wave of scams designed to con people out of their money.
These have included demands for payment for sponsoring and advertising in 'good cause' booklets, such as a cancer awareness booklet and an anti-bullying booklet to be sent to schools.
Scams involving registration under the Data Protection Act and another involving website fees are also still in circulation.
Several local businesses have contacted Gloucestershire County Council's Trading Standards Service for advice.
Trading standards advise businesses not to agree to sponsor or place adverts in any publication unless fully satisfied the nature of that publication.
