RESIDENTS have had their worst fears confirmed following the official announcement of possible post office closures in the Cotswolds.
The government decided to reduce the UK's network of post office branches by 2,500 from its current number of over 14,000.
The government's national criteria stated that 95 percent of the total rural population must be within three miles of a post office branch.
Cotswold Post offices facing closure are:
Meysey Hampton.
Stratton.
The Beeches.
Weston Sub Edge.
The following nine post office branches are proposed for replacement by an outreach solution:
Aldsworth.
Blockley.
Colesbourne.
Guiting Power.
Longborough.
Miserden.
Rendcomb.
Sherborne.
Temple Guiting.
*Possible types of outreach service could include a mobile service visiting small communities at set times, a hosted service operated within third party premises for restricted hours each week, or a partner service within the premises of a local partner (such as a pub landlord).
