TRIBUTES in memory of teenage road victim Henry Avery continue to pour into the Standard's website.

Henry, 18, from Southrop, died in hospital after his car collided with a tree on the A361 near the Kencot and Holwell junction.

His funeral takes place on Thursday (Dec 20).

Parents Dave and Jilly Avery told the Standard they had received more than 100 cards of condolence since the crash shortly before midnight on Thursday, December 6.

Mr Avery thanked everybody who had offered their support and laid flowers at the scene of the accident. "We didn't know he was so popular," he said. "We are expecting a lot of people at his funeral."

The Standard, too, has been inundated with tributes from friends and family.

Tim Potter, from Cirencester, said: "Henry was a great lad and a tremendous tribute to Dave and Jilly."

Friend Georgie Hastings, from Fairford, added: "Henry was a brilliant friend. He was such a huge part of a lot of people's life including mine and he will be forever loved."

Daniel Woodward, from Lechlade, said he could not believe what had happened. "Henry would always try to cheer you up by coming out with jokes. I will not forget him and I will miss him so much," he said.

Kerri Bennett, also from Lechlade, added: "Henry's cheeky grin, wicked laugh and huge heart will be dearly missed. He was a great friend and this should never have happened."

Henry is survived by four brothers and two sisters. He lived at home with his parents, and brothers Oliver, 23, Matthew, 22 and Charlie, 17.

His funeral takes place on Thursday (Dec 20) at noon at Southrop Parish Church.
