FIRE chiefs investigating a house fire that broke out in the village of Ford last night have ruled out arson.
Crews were called to the two-storey property at 10.48pm.
They used three jets, two hose reels and four sets of breathing apparatus to extinguish the fire and spent three-and-a-half hours at the scene.
Station manager Andrew Clayton, of Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue, said the blaze may have been started by an appliance left on at the premises, which is currently under renovation.
He said: "The building is being renovated at the moment and there were some workmen there the day before.
"We had the flames extinguished within the hour but it took several hours to make the roof safe and make sure there were no hotspots."
He said the first floor of the building suffered 30 percent damage and that 80 percent of the roof was destroyed.
No one was in the house at the time of the fire and there were no injuries reported.
