A POPULAR A-road between Malmesbury and Cirencester is being resurfaced later this month.

The A429 Kemble is being resurfaced next to Cotswold Airport, as part of Gloucestershire County Council’s £150m investment into the county’s roads, as it has reached the end of its life expectancy.

It will be closed from Thursday, September 13, to Wednesday September 19.

To help keep disruption to a minimum, work will take place between 9.30am to 3.30pm, excluding weekends, with the road remaining open during peak times.

Cllr Vernon Smith, cabinet member for highways and flood, said: “This scheme highlights our continued £150m investment into Gloucestershire’s roads.

"I’d like to reassure residents that we will keep disruption to a minimum and thank them for bearing with us.”

Cllr Shaun Parsons, county councillor for South Cerney division, added: “This is a busy and popular route for road users, so it is vital this resurfacing goes ahead.

"I would like to thank the local community in advance for their cooperation while the work is carried out.”
