A MALMESBURY charitable group celebrated the end of its summer programme of events at Malmesbury Abbey last week.
Heals, who work with vulnerable people in the community, joined forces with a number of organisations once again this summer to offer a range of exciting opportunities to youngsters in the area.
Youngsters, parents, councillors, funders and activity hosts joined Malmesbury Mayor Fran Vandelli and the Heals team to celebrate the charity’s summer programme of events.
Around 25 eight to 16-year-olds from the area took part in ten activities over the school holidays in and around Malmesbury, and two, week-long residential camps in Somerset organised by Falcon Camps.
Heals chairman Cllr Gavin Grant said: “It has been great fun, if a little exhausting putting the programme together and supporting the young people at the events. They seem to have enjoyed it and I hope it has given their parents some respite over the long holiday.
“I am very grateful to the St James’ Place Foundation, Wiltshire Council’s Area Board and Police Mutual for funding the programme.
“I also want to thank our youth worker Claire Camm, Heals general manager Judith Fooks and our summer programme volunteers Karen Franklin, Liz Cook and Dr Brian Mathew.
“None of this would have happened without their support.”
