South Cerney 246-6

Poulton 2nds 127 ao

South Cerney win by 119 runs

SOUTH Cerney took a massive step towards the title by overwhelming nearest rivals Poulton 2nds in a one-sided match.

Cerney took the game to their opponents as the Poulton opening bowlers bore the brunt of a typical Jay Russell (99) onslaught.

He received excellent support from opening partner Dan Mobley (29) and number three James Bayliss (67*) who continued to bat through to the end and shepherd his side to a challenging total of 246-6. For Poulton, only veteran Mark Higginson (3-47) provided a threat.

The Poulton batting line-up struggled to make any headway against accurate South Cerney bowling - Jason Stevens (3-13), Dave Leith (2-14), Craig O’Keefe (2-24) and Sam Catterall (2-24) all ground Poulton down.

Only Jake Harris (27) and Matt Genever (22) made any headway as the visitors were bundled out for only 127, leaving South Cerney only one win away from the title.

Bibury 117 ao

Barnsley Beeches 118-3

Beeches win by seven wickets

BARNSLEY Beeches had a very comfortable win over dangerous Bibury at Lady Hill.

Bibury got off to a decent start with Charlie Robinson (32) continuing his prolific form. However, he received little support at the other end as wickets fell steadily.

Ed Latter (5-24) ripped through Bibury’s middle order and tail leaving the hosts all out for 117.

Rhe Barnsley reply got off to a poor start with loss of a couple of early wickets to Mark Hayes (2-35). However Basim Sarfraz (43*) and Josh Odom (29*) put paid to any thoughts of an upset as they propelled Barnsley to victory.

Oaksey 143 ao

Longborough & Sezincote 146-7

L & S win by three wickets

OAKSEY’S slim hopes of another title disappeared at Longborough & Sezincote.

Hector Whitrow (36) and Sam Holdway (35) provided some hope, but the rest of the Oaksey batting line-up were unable to rise to the occasion.

For Longborough a fine all round bowling performance by Ryan Theron (3-38), Gary Luker (2-24), Josh Newbould (2-27) and Luke McDonah (2-27) proved too much for Oaksey who stuttered to 143 all out.

Hector Whitrow (4-35) got the visitors off to a great start, and a good contribution from Ken Lane (2-40) put Oaksey in a winning position.

Longborough & Sezincote took the bold approach, initially through Gary Luker (33), then a fine unbeaten eighth wicket partnership between Joe Newbould (38*) and Martin Harvey (28*).

The Oaksey bowlers had no answer.

Forfeits: Ashton Keynes beat Great Rissington 2nds. Oakridge beat Stow-on-the-Wold.
