A BRINKWORTH fashion student won a prestigious award at this year’s Graduate Fashion Week.

Becky Wilson won the Christopher Bailey Gold Award at the event in London, defeating hundreds of other entries.

She was awarded with a prize of £10,000, with a further £2,000 going to the Arts University Bournemouth, where she studied.

Having studied at the university for three years, Becky’s goal was to get to the fashion week, so she could meet people who could help further her career.

Having been selected to show off her collection at the show, judges then included her in the top 100 entries, and then the top 25.

From the top 25 entries, they picked winners for numerous categories, but it was Becky who was chosen as the winner of the most prestigious award.

Becky’s collection was inspired by Victorian photographer August Sander, and used a lot of the traditional working class clothing as a starting point.

Becky said: “It was an incredible moment and such a shock to win.

“I couldn’t imagine making the top 25, let alone winning the award.

“The hope now is to get into the fashion industry, with the goal to be a fashion designer in London.

“I have already had a brief conversation with someone with a possible job opportunity in New York if I can get a VISA.”
