Intuition County Cup final

CONFIDO beat Indubitable to win the County Cup at Ivy Lodge in Cirencester Park.

Indubitable’s patron Christian Badenhop has come over from Germany to play this tournament and will make the most of being here to play a couple more tournaments at Cirencester.

Confido’s patron, who was sadly unable to play due to injury, is Creighton Boyd, over from Ireland.

Otherwise, English players dominated the line ups with England Ladies Captain Nina Clarkin, playing for Indubitable along with England Team player James Harper and stalwart of Cirencester Polo Dave Allen, who has also worn the England flag.

For Confido, it was the Tomlinson brothers, Luke and Mark who are both England team members as well, with South African Shaun Brokensha and replacing Creighton Boyd – George Deverell.

Play was neck-and-neck in the first half, but a late goal just before the break put Confido into the lead.

Indubitable patron Christian Badenhop brought the scores level early in the fourth chukka, but a penalty in favour of Confido allowed Luke Tomlinson to sneak his side ahead again.

Two more goals were scored by Luke Tomlinson to give Confido a significant three-goal advantage going into the last chukka.

Indubitable were by no means giving up and delivered a great display in front of the large crowd who had turned out for this historic trophy, but each team only found the middle of the posts once more, resulting in Confido being the proud victors of the County Cup - 10-7.

Luke Tomlinson was named Most Valuable Player and 'Twitter' played by James Harper, owned and bred by Jim Gilmore, was given the Polo Time Best Playing Pony award, something grooms, Lucy and Jo are especially proud of
