THE Village Hall Club meets on Friday, August 17 with doors and licensed bar open at 7pm and the entertainment starting at 7.30pm. This is the last session of the 2017-18 season with the new year starting in September when membership fees, still at £12.50 for the full year, will be due.

Non, members are welcomed to attend this month’s meeting as temporary members for only £3. Call me for more information.

SOUTH Cerney Art Group held another well attended and enjoyed Painting Day in the Hall last Saturday with the workshop concentrating on water colour techniques.

This was the last of this summer’s sessions, but more are being planned to be held later this year or in 2019. The autumn meetings of the Art Group resume on Monday evenings in early September when existing and new members will be welcomed to attend. MEMBERS of the South Cerney Bowls Club visited the Tetbury club last Saturday and were well in the lead when the match had to be curtailed due to heavy rain.

The club has one more away match, against Porter Bowling in West Oxfordshire, that is to be played on Sunday, September 2. Meanwhile members are well advanced in their in-club competitions with finals due to be completed by the end of this month.

FOLLOWING action by members of the South Cerney Trust, Gloucestershire County Council has issued a formal Notice (published in last week’s Standard) that the two disputed Rights of Way across the Claymeadow Farm fields should be reopened to the public.

It is now some nine months since the government inspector found in favour of the Trust but there is now a period of time (up to September 13) during which objections to the Order can be made. The Trust hope that the two footpaths will be re-opened by the end of next month.
