OUTSTANDING results have been announced by The Cotswold School where more than one-third of pupils were awarded A* or A grades for their A-levels.

The academy school, located in Bourton-on-the-Water have expressed their delight at the results, with some pupils moving on to the University of Cambridge, Oxford and the University College in London amongst others.

Will Morgan who works as the principle at the highly rated Cotswold School discussed why he is so please about the success of his students.

"These new linear A-level examinations are tough and our students and staff have risen to the challenge," explained Mr Morgan.

"It is brilliant to see such a high proportion of top grades and to see the great progress that our students have made at our school.

In fact, one such Cotswold School student, Rosie Mutsaars achieved an A* in History and A grades in both English Literature and French for her A-levels.

This has enabled Rosie to take up a place on a four-year classics degree at Gonville & Caius College in Cambridge.

It is understood that as well as the impressive A-level grades, there has been a significant improvement in AS level results - which will aid students in their upcoming studies.

"I am extremely proud of the staff, the students and their families who have all had a key part to play in this success," added the schools principle.

"These results will open some fascinating and exciting doors to higher education and careers."
