CIRENCESTER College are celebrating their best ever vocational results as they achieve another year of exceptional A-level results

Vocational courses have bucked the national downward trend with major success, with more than 140 students gaining triple distinction and above, the equivalent of three grade A's at A-level.

There were amazing results for Archaeology, with a 100% pass rate, and equally impressive results in World Development statistics with 23 out of 34 students gaining A's or A*s, but sadly both subjects are to be discontinued next year.

Overall, Students gained 355 grade As and A*s including 96 A*s, with 15 in English Literature, 17 in Maths, 12 in Photography and 24 in Sciences.

Seven students from the college secured their place at Oxbridge this morning, with a further nine students on their way to start their Medicine and Veterinary Science courses at university.

Amongst the many success stories is the college's highest achiever Juliet Biard, who will be going to Cambridge University to study Natural Sciences.

Juliet achieved four A*s in Chemistry, Physics, Maths and Further Maths.

Many students at the college excelled, securing places at top universities across the country including Oxford, Cambridge, Bristol, Exeter and others from the Russell Group.

Whilst others joined the college's professional apprenticeship programmes or attained entry straight into their chosen careers.

Principal Jim Grant commented: “This is the second year of the increasingly challenging linear A levels and we are proud that Sciences, Maths, English Literature and all Art related subjects show even further improvement on previously strong performances.

"These qualifications require hard work across two years and our specialist sixth form teaching to support our students is a huge advantage.

"Professional vocational courses have completely bucked the national downward trend with major success; over 140 students gained triple distinctions and above, which is the equivalent of 3 grade As at A-level many of those students gained triple distinction stars which is the equivalent to gaining three A*s at A-level.
