GLOUCESTERSHIRE theatre company Jenny Wren Productions delve into the dating scene of the early 19th century in their playful adaptation of Jane Austen’s classic novel, Emma, adapted by Martin Millar and actress and comedienne Doon MacKichan.

Performed at open air venues across the Cotswolds this summer, including Rendcomb, and Stroud, this Austen classic has been recreated with the quirky Jenny Wren touch.

Join heroine, Emma as she tries to constantly pair off her unfortunate friend Harriet Smith with unsuitable men.

She is convinced that for herself however, the single life is the only way. Matches are made and unmade quicker than you can say “how delightful” but after all the outrageous flirting, declarations of love and heaving of bosoms, will Emma’s heart escape unscathed?

As Jane Austen writes, members of her family become her characters; blushing heroines, dashing suitors and dastardly cads and many more, bringing her story of the ultimate matchmaker to mischievous life.

Jenny Wicks, director said: “Rehearsals are going well and we’re excited about bringing this well-known and beloved novel to life at an open air venue near you. This summer also marks the 15th year of Jenny Wren Productions and I am delighted to welcome back to the cast, Claire Tucker, who was in the original production.”

From the company that brought you Robin Hood, The Hound of the Baskervilles, Around the world in 80 Days, Twelfth Night and last year’s Jungle Book, make a date this summer with Jenny Wren Productions at an open-air venue near you.

Performances are in the open air so please bring a blanket or chair.
