A PROJECT been recognised with a national award for work its done to improve broadband speeds in Chedworth.

The Fastershire project by Gigaclear won the Community Improvement Award at the Connected Britain Awards in London.

Gloucestershire County Council's Fastershire project is a scheme aimed to improve broadband speeds of businesses and homes in Gloucestershire and Herefordshire since 2015. Chedworth was one of the places where broadband was significantly improved and therefore the work done there was recognised by this national award.

Gigaclear have been able to offer broadband speeds of up to 1000 megabytes per second in places such as Chedworth which is the development that won gigaclear the award.

The county council cabinet member for economy, skills and growth, Lynden Stowe, said: "We’re committed to ensuring that homes and businesses can access faster broadband and it is wonderful that Fastershire’s work with Gigaclear in Chedworth has received this award. Joe Frost, the Gigaclear development, said ”Almost 500 residential and business properties throughout the village (Chedworth) are now able to benefit from an ultrafast boost, catapulting them from their 1-3 Mbps up to 1000Mbps today."

Almost 500 residential and business properties throughout the village are now able to benefit from an ultrafast boost, catapulting them from their 1-3Mbps up to 1000Mbps today."
