CHRISSIE Johnson is the unsung heroine of the rural community she serves.

She is a nurse at the Kington Medical Practice, but her devotion to patients goes way beyond the nine to five.

Julie Sargeant, who has nominated her for the Good Nurse accolade in the Hereford Times Health and Social Care Awards 2018, describes her role as "pivotal" in the care of people in the community of Kington.

"She is extremely knowledgeable, compassionate, and goes above and beyond the call of duty," she said.

"Chrissie is so professional, continually updating her knowledge in her own time.

"She is also a volunteer First Responder in the local community, an absolute necessity in our rural community, saving lives with her prompt attendance.

"Chrissie is professional at all times. She treats everyone as an individual, is non-judgemental, and strives to produce the best solution to any health problem, referring on promptly to appropriate specialists where necessary.

"Everyone in our community knows Chrissie, and I've only heard praise from this amazing nurse!"

Our health and care awards aim to recognise hard work, dedication, innovation and high standards in the health and social care sector in Herefordshire.

The awards will be presented in a glitzy ceremony later this year.

Our independent judging panel will sift through your nominations and identify those with the qualities they feel best match the award category criteria.

They will make their decision based on the content of the nomination rather than the number of nominations received.
