WOMEN'S community group, Ciren Belles, welcomed Ailsa O’Connor, Fundraiser at The Churn Project, to their July meeting to hear more about the wide scope of help and activities provided by this inclusive local charity.

Unlike many charities which have a very specific focus, The Churn Project’s brief is all-encompassing. As Fundraiser Ailsa O’Connor explained, the charity exists to offer help to anyone in the community who needs it from before birth, through the ante-natal group, to old age.

During an enlightening and inspiring talk, Ailsa spoke of The Churn’s aim to offer non-judgemental help to anyone in need in the Cirencester area.

Specifically, those at a point of transition or crisis in their lives, or experiencing mental health issues. Incredibly, more than 25 activities a week are offered, supporting around 1,500 people each year.

These include The Churn Good Neighbours scheme, Tai Chi, Friendship Club, Work Club, and classes in English and maths and computing.

Ciren Belles is open to women of all ages and backgrounds in Cirencester.

It is a chance to get together once a month to grow friendships and hear inspiring speakers or enjoy informal social events. Meeting are every third Thursday of the month upstairs at Somewhere Else, with a 7.30 for 8pm start.

The next meeting will be on Thursday, September 20. For further information, contact Rev Katie Richardson (revkatie@cirenparish.co.uk) or Vikki O’Keefe (vikki.okeeffe@gmail.com) or ring 01285 659317.
