There are events for all ages, athletics, novelty races, bike ride, 5K run, Tug of War and rowing, which seems rather unlikely as the nearest water is a stream half a mile away.

Ice cream and refreshments will also be available at the games. The event is in aid of St Andrews Church Chedworth. For more details call Hugh on 01285 720237 or see facebook.com/chedworthgames.

A MOTORIST had a narrow escape last Thursday when part of the Copper Beech Tree which has for many years been a feature of the Parsonage House garden at the top of Tuns Hill sheared off and fell across the road.

The branch some three feet in diameter and around forty feet long demolished the 2002 Jubilee Notice board and narrowly missed the Jack Lawrence memorial seat and hit and damaged the trees on the Tuns Hill Triangle blocking the road completely.

The minor road towards Setts Farm remained blocked the following day and the Triangle recently cleared as by the Parish Council was left strewn with tree debris. Brenda Rosenthall’s photograph of The Copper Beech Tree won a CDC photography competition some years ago and the picture is still displayed in the Village Hall.

CHEDWORTH Parish Council has agreed to support the Village Hall committee by making the playing field available for a visit by the Folk Camps next Witsun. The Council has given a discount on the usual £20 per session fee and proposes to charge £350 for the week.

Access to the adult exercise equipment and |tennis courts will have to be maintained and the Village Hall and Parish Council will meet nearer the date to ensure neighbours are given plenty of notice of the event.
