A TETBURY gym has raised more than £1,000 for Tetbury Hospital by completing a fundraising challenge event.

BPF Fitness Hub, decided to take on a 960 kilometre challenge, to celebrate its one year anniversary.

The challenge, to compete the distance in one day using using four pieces of cardiovascular equipment, representing the distance between Tetbury and its twin town Zwingenberg.

On July 10, more than 90 participants smashed the target achieving 1772km, almost twice the original distance raising £1,463.75

A spokesperson for the event said: "The BPF Fitness Hub Charity Challenge was a huge success.

"The event was fantastically supported by gym members and non-members alike.

"We cannot thank everyone who participated enough, the support was overwhelming and especially touching as it was also the first anniversary of the opening of BPF Fitness Hub. "We are committed to the community of Tetbury and will be holding more charity events to help local causes in the future."

Tetbury Hospital Trust Ltd was established in 1993 and is a registered charity, and receives payment from the NHS for patient treatments.

The hospital's survival depends on fund raising and generosity from local people.
